It amazes me how much some people will try to sell something for.
This listing popped up on eBay for a copy of the hardback book Bob Dylan: the Drawn Blank Series: Watercolor and Gouache.
This was published in 2007 as a large, 208 page collection of Dylan’s art works that had so far been released as the Drawn Blank Series. It also tells the story of how the collection came about.
Now, it’s an interesting read and a great collectors item for people interesting in Dylan, and more specifically his art works.
But this listing on eBay from a fairly established book seller with 16,000+ feedback is more than a little overpriced…
Update August 2016: A different seller has listed the book on eBay for £459.79
The seller is asking for £341.20 for the new copy of the book. Quite how they came up with the apparently random £1.20 on the end of the asking price is anybody’s guess.
To give an idea of the value, there are currently two new copies available on Amazon for £190 and £198.57.
I won’t mention how much I bought my own copy for… I have a knack of being able to find Dylan collectibles at low prices!
I’ve just spotted the same Bob Dylan Drawn Blank Series book on eBay for a staggering £459.79
Again, this appears to be a reputable seller with high feedback. Just where do they get these prices from?
One thing is for sure, I’m going to be keeping my copy in super-good condition.
